The Masked Woman - Addendum

After reading my last post, my husband pointed out that another obvious reason the woman wore a mask is because her face is horribly disfigured (I knew I would always regret forcing him to watch The Phantom of the Opera).  Strangely, this honestly never occurred to me and now I feel like kind of a jerk.

Of course I could just take down the post, but in my defense - despite calling her a freak and threatening to jump her - I actually had quite a lot of affection for her.  I always looked forward to seeing her and felt a kindred to her as a fellow runner and lover of Central Park.  In many ways, people who go out there and compulsively run day in and day out are all freaks of nature, and I'm certainly including myself as one.  Although running has become so trendy, we're still in the relative minority.

This is a cheap and saccharine argument, but it is also sincerely felt.  And I thank her for occupying my mind for the many hours which would otherwise be spent agonizing how miserable I am trying to get this run over with.
